Cyclonic Impact of "Tauktae"

                                                                                                                  Date 16th May 2021

                                                                                                                  Time - 9:00 pm

 Dr Ram Bajaj Cyclonic Impact

                                  Cyclonic Impact of "Tauktae"

As per IMD, the Cyclone "Tauktae" has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm (V.S.C.S) and is approaching the Gujarat coast. "It is very likely to move north - northwestwards and reach Gujarat coast in the evening hours of 17th May and cross Gujarat coast between Porbander and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) around 18th May early morning.

According to the cyclone warning division of the IMD by May 18, the wind speed is expected to increase to 150 - 160 K.M.P.H gusting up to 175 K.M.P.H (PTI)

According to IMD, the diameter of the eye is roughly 4 K.M with an eye temperature of 5.2 Degree Celsius.

The wall cloud top temperature is 93 Degree Celsius.

The above findings are wrong and misleading!

The cyclone "Tauktae" has not intensified into "Very Severe Cyclonic Storms" and will never cross Gujarat east between Porbander and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) with 150 - 160 K.M.P.H wind speed having gusting up to 175 K.M.P.H.

Instead, this cyclone Tauktae will be intensified into a severe depression having a wind speed of 70 to 80 Kmph and will (Landfall) cross Gujarat Coast near Una and Junagarh around early morning between 3:00 am to 4:00 am on 18th May 2021. Sea temperature varies between 82 Degree Fahrenheit to 87 Degree Fahrenheit presently which is not sufficient to convert a cyclone storm into "Very Severe Cyclonic Storms."

Because of the cyclonic system over the Gujarat coast and low depression, heavy to moderate normal rains and thunderstorms will occur in these areas.

Una and near Junagarh will get maximum rainfall ranging from 3" to 4" and other places of Gujarat like Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Jamnagar, Than, and Bhavnagar and their surrounding villages will receive rainfall between 1" to 2" only.

Dwarka due to the wind velocity of 70 Kmph and rainfall of 2" to 3" will occur which will not be a very very serious nature.

                                 IMD will be Wrong Again

Palghar and Mumbai and its nearby area will not receive any heavy to heavy rainfall on 16th and 17th May. Simple normal rainfall may occur.
